I am a rising sophomore at Colgate University, majoring in Computer Science and Mathematics. I am currently working for professor Michael Hay at the Department of Computer Science at Colgate in his research project Exposed! Attacking online data repositories to infer sensitive information. I will soon join Virtual Galapagos, a project aiming to construct a digital educational experience for children to learn about science through Galapagos Island in the future as the lead programmer. I love experimenting with technology and learning new programming tools in my free time. I am also a big fan of digital arts and Photography. I am looking for an internship or research opportunity to hone my programming skills and gain practical experience next summer. I can be reached via Facebook, LinkedIn, Email or Instagram.
The research aims to recover suppressed data from an online data repository that provides information about public school students' performance on 2 statewide tests: Math and English Language Arts. I worked as a research assistant for Professor Michael Hay in the Department of Computer Science during the summer. I was in charge of extracting desired data from a given URL set in an automated way using Scrapy and Scrapy Cloud. I also wrote code to implement the attack algorithm using CVXPY and NumPy and analyze the extracted data using Matplotlib and Pandas. Before the research, I had no experience working with a large database, but I am now comfortable working with big data and using code to process, manipulate, and analyze data.
Colgate Virtual Galapagos is a virtual website that provides interactive science lessons that teach children about science via the lens of the Galapagos Island. I worked with a team of over 10 students from Colgate University to design and develop the website for the project. I was in charge of coding the Island Life Cycle module using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Through this project, I got the chance to work as a front-end web developer, working with 360 degree video, Bootstrap and learn Javascript as this is my first time using JavaScript. The project is challenging because of the big code base but it helps me to learn and grow as a programmer and improve my code reading skill.
